Paul has spent his entire career in the music industry, beginning as a talent scout for Atlantic Records at the age of 19 (hired by Phil Carson, who discovered and signed ACDC to the label).

Paul then moving up into fully-fledged A&R roles at Atlantic, EMI Records and Polydor Records, working with artists such as Siouxsie & The Banshees, Talk Talk, New Model Army.

He then moved across to working at music publishing companies, initially at EMI Publishing UK, followed by a decade in the New York office where his signings included Third Eye Blind and Chumbawumba. He helped hone Avril Lavigne’s sound for her debut album as well as provide Christina Aguilera with Genie In A Bottle, her debut hit.

Then followed another near-decade at an independent music publisher named Cherry Lane, whose successes at the time were Wolfmother, Black Eyed Peas and John Legend. Pairing a writer with Beyoncé, the end result was If I Were A Boy, a hit in various territories and her Grammy performance of that title.

There was a short period in writer and producer management before Paul segued into the catalog-acquisition arena, where which he still works, helping place major catalogs with companies paying multi-millions sums for these incredible catalogs.
